Occupational Therapy


Occupational Therapy is a profession concerned with promoting health and well being by assisting people with every day tasks.

The primary goal of Occupational Therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational Therapists achieve this outcome by enabling people to do things that will enhance their ability to participate or by modifying the environment to better support participation.

 

Occupational Therapy Services

• Prescription of walking and mobility aids such as:
     - Wheeled walkers, Walking sticks, Frames, Scooters

• Falls Prevention Home Safety Assessments

• Provision of Recommendations and Coordination of Home Modifications, Including:
     - Hand / grab rails for stairs, bathrooms, external areas
     - Ramps for easier home access
     - Lighting for vision impaired individuals
     - Kitchen and bathroom modifications

• Activities of Daily Living Retraining

• Prescription of equipment to make life a little easier, Including:
     - Eating and cooking specialist utensils
     - Dressing Aids
     - Toilet aids, shower and bedroom equipment
     - Special height adjustable chairs
     - Specialist Vision impaired implements

• Medico-Legal Functional and Vocational Assessments
• Medico- Legal Occuaptional Therapy Assessments
